Awarded twice – two UID projects win Red Dot Award

We are delighted to have won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award: Communication & Brand Design twice. The Thermomix® feature "My Creations" and the new operating system for Liebherr's tower cranes convinced the international jury of experts. Below, we will show you the two winning projects!

With around 20,000 submissions, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest design awards in the world. For more than 65 years, it has awarded excellent design. For several days, the expert jury reviews, evaluates and discusses the competition submissions. Among thousands of submissions, not one but two UID submissions prevailed: Cookidoo® "My Creations" and Liebherr "Tower Crane Operating System" received the coveted award for their exceptional user interface design. This is not the first award for both products …

Individual recipe world

75,000 recipes can be found by Thermomix® fans on the Cookidoo® recipe portal. But one thing was missing until now: individually created recipes of cooking enthusiasts. The new “My creations” feature changes that. Users can now create their favorite recipes or modify existing recipes to suit their own tastes. All recipes are stored in one place and can be cooked in the Thermomix®. Cookidoo® convinces with a clearly structured interface and automated cooking settings. In addition to the Red Dot, the project team already had the pleasure of winning the UX Design Award: Public Choice and the iF Design Award. This way, Cookidoo® "My Creations" makes the design award triple perfect.

Operate cranes safely

With the tower crane operating system, crane operators and fitters operate so-called tower cranes. Safe and precise operation is a must – in any weather or at any time of day or night. The difficulty: An abundance of content had to be accommodated in touch size on a 7-inch display. That's why the team was constantly looking for approaches to reduction. An always available, space-saving menu at the bottom of the screen now allows quick switching between individual areas. A 10-step wizard guides the user through the configuration of the crane, requiring exactly one piece of information per screen.

Operators use it to switch quickly between areas. A 10-step wizard guides you through the configuration. It requires exactly one piece of information per screen from the users. By consistently reducing the concept and screen design, an application was created that is unique in its simplicity and clarity.

Qualities that not only the Red Dot Award jury appreciated: tower crane operating system is also nominated for the UX Design Award.
