UID and Vorwerk win two Design Oscars
And the winners are … UID and Vorwerk. Together with our customers Vorwerk we are proud winners of not just one but even two iF DESIGN AWARDS. This award is one of the most prestigious design prizes in the world. The jury of international experts selected the multi-functional kitchen appliance Thermomix® TM6 as well as the app for the Kobold VR300 robot vacuum cleaner as awardees in the Communications category, thanks to their outstanding user interface design.
For 67 years, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been an internationally acclaimed trademark for excellent design. The jury of 78 experts selected the best designs from 7,298 entries from 56 countries. "High design quality and a positive user experience are key for a product’s success – especially in the B2C environment. Design has to support the users’ interaction through clear structures while being fun and captivating. The Thermomix® TM6 and the Kobold VR300 app are shining examples of such successful design. The two coveted awards are a great recognition for our work," says UID’s Creative Director Henrik Rieß, who was in charge of the design management in the Kobold project.
New cooking horizons
The Thermomix® TM6 takes the digitization of cooking to the next level. The Cookidoo® recipe platform is integrated into the Thermomix®, providing plenty of inspiration with its roughly 50,000 tailor-made recipes – only one swipe away from the core cooking functionality. Recipe suggestions clustered by categories and a convenient search functionality with user-friendly filters make Cookidoo's® abundance of recipes easily accessible. The Thermomix® design perfectly blends in with Vorwerk's brand world, creating a seamless experience for the user across all touchpoints.
The iF DESIGN AWARD is the third award in a row for UID and Vorwerk after the Thermomix® TM6 already won the Red Dot Design Award and the UX Design Award | Product.
Smart & clean
The Kobold VR 300 app convinced the jury with its easy operation and outstanding app design. The app makes daily cleaning chores child’s play: It enables the users to start the robot vacuum cleaner from anywhere. The visualization of the app interface takes up the robot’s bright and friendly design language. In order to allow for a seamless user experience, we attached great importance to real-time status information and prompt feedback interaction when using the app. In addition, cleaning statistics visualize how sustainable the robot’s work was.
On May 04, 2020, we will celebrate the double victory at a gala night in Berlin.
