Project with OPTIMA nominated for the UX Design Award 2023!
Our joint project with OPTIMA has been nominated for the UX Design Award 2023! This prestigious design prize is awarded to products that offer users a special experience. With 550 participants from 54 countries, we are now among the nominees with the new machine interface for OPTIMA's system operation. Here we present our contribution to you.
User-centricity repackaged
In recent years, OPTIMA has had the desire to harmonise machine operations for the different industries in order to create a unique and recognisable design language. In addition, the new HMI focuses on the needs of the machine operators and supports the most important work processes such as monitoring and optimising production, troubleshooting and format changes.

UID took on this challenge and developed a modular concept including a design system. It allows OPTIMA to reuse components for different machine types and a seamless transition when operating different machines. The goal of the new HMI is a uniform appearance of the machine interfaces across all product lines and web services, creating a modern and consistent design style.
With its uniform and user-centred design, the new HMI also makes it fundamentally easier for machine operators to do their work. The user interface is now clearer and all essential production data can be seen on the "Home" dashboard. The other topic-oriented dashboards "Machine overview", "Production optimisation" and "Favourites" are just a click away on the same level. A flexible sidebar contains higher-level machine functions, pending messages and context-dependent content such as filters or additional information.
The winners will be announced in September. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
