Double award – Two UID projects win Red Dot Award

We are delighted to have received the prestigious Red Dot Award: Communication & Brand Design twice. The Thermomix® feature “My Creations” and the new operating system for Liebherr tower cranes impressed the international jury of experts. We present the two winning projects to you!

With around 20,000 entries, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest design prizes in the world. It has been honoring excellent design for over 65 years. The expert jury examines, evaluates and discusses the competition entries for several days. Among the thousands of submissions, two UID entries came out on top: Cookidoo® “My Creations” and Liebherr “Tower Crane Operating System” received the coveted prize for their exceptional user interface design. This is not the first award for either product …

Individual recipe world

Thermomix® fanscan find 75,000 recipes on the Cookidoo® recipe portal. But one thing was missing until now: individually created recipes from cooking enthusiasts. The new “My creations” feature is now changing that. Users can now create their favorite recipes or change existing recipes to suit their own taste. All recipes are stored in one place and can be cooked in the Thermomix®. Cookidoo® impresses with a clearly structured interface and automated cooking settings. In addition to the Red Dot, the project team has already won the UX Design Award: Public Choice and the iF Design Award. Cookidoo® “My Creations” thus completes the design award trifecta.

Operating cranes safely

Crane operators use the Tower Crane Operating System to operate Liebherr tower cranes. Safe and precise operation is a must here – whatever the weather and whatever the time of day.

The difficulty: the 7-inch display had to accommodate a wealth of content. That’s why the team was constantly looking for ways to reduce it. A menu that is always available is positioned at the bottom of the screen to save space. Users can use it to quickly switch between areas. A 10-step wizard guides the user through the configuration. It requests exactly one piece of information from the user per screen. This consistent reduction of the concept and design has resulted in an application that is unique in its simplicity and clarity.

Qualities that not only the Red Dot Award jury appreciates: Tower Crane Operating System has also been nominated for the UX Design Award.
