UX boost for start-ups: UID supports TeamEntfalter
With TeamEntfalter, organizations develop real, effective teams from groups. In a compact three-day project, the startup worked with the UID UX team to review and improve key touchpoints on the platform. Read here why targeted UX consulting can be a decisive success factor for young companies.
TeamEntfalter supports organizations in turning working groups into real teams – with a structured development approach that anchors principles, roles and goals in everyday life. In addition to consulting and workshop formats, a digital tool forms the core: it enables teams to reflect on and improve their collaboration step by step – in an iterative, self-effective and practical way.
To ensure that the user experience of the platform also supports this effect, TeamEntfalter brought the UID UX team on board. In a compact, three-day project, we worked together to review and optimize key touchpoints along the user journey. This ranged from the first onboarding mailing to the design of individual application steps in the software. UID contributed both conceptual expertise and concrete design proposals and provided valuable input for further development.
What was special about this project was that targeted UX consulting was able to create tangible added value in a short space of time. An example of how selective expert support can make all the difference.
In this interview, Anne Emmelmann, founder of TeamEntfalter, gives us an insight into the project and the collaboration.

What was the biggest challenge for you in your start-up during product development?
Anne Emmelmann: The biggest challenge during product development was to provide users with an intuitive yet powerful user interface that simplifies all the complex functions. We wanted to ensure that our product could be easily understood and effectively used by both new and experienced users.
Why did you decide to bring in an external UX partner?
Anne Emmelmann: We decided to bring in an external UX partner because we were aware that we needed expertise and an objective outside perspective to take our design to the next level. It was important for us to integrate professional expertise in UX design to ensure that the product is optimized from the user’s perspective and that we are not just implementing our own assumptions.
How did you find working with us?
Anne Emmelmann: The collaboration was very positive. We found the process to be structured and well organized. We particularly appreciated the open exchange and the regular feedback loops, which enabled us to work together on the best solution. We worked with you at two different points in the process and particularly appreciated the pragmatism at the beginning, as we initially needed a prototype. Overall, we felt integrated into the entire development process and were always able to draw on your expertise.

What has helped you and your startup the most?
Anne Emmelmann: What helped us the most was the clear methodology and consistent user-centricity. You helped us to constantly focus on the needs of our target groups and ensure that the user interface remained intuitive and user-friendly. This allows the content to have the desired effect: Creating clarity, enabling reflection and initiating concrete change. The process review also made it very clear how we can better communicate with and engage our users.
Were there any specific working methods or approaches that were particularly helpful for you?
Anne Emmelmann: One particularly helpful approach was the use of user journey analyses and mock-ups. This way of working allowed us to iterate quickly and identify potential problems early on before they became costly. Continuously testing the designs with real users also helped us to make targeted improvements.
What challenges have you approached differently thanks to our advice?
Anne Emmelmann : Your advice has taught us to prioritize user needs even more and not only to implement our product vision, but also to actively test with users and incorporate their feedback into the development process. We are now much more aware of how important it is to work with real users right from the start instead of relying solely on theoretical assumptions.

Where have solutions worked better or faster?
Anne Emmelmann: The color scheme was a particularly quick success, which we specifically adapted with your support. The clear visual hierarchy and harmonious color scheme immediately had a positive impact on the user experience. The view of the entire communication flow was also crucial. Especially the email communication and its design could be optimized through the UX optimization, which led to better user engagement and communication.
Another example of quick and effective solutions was the home page. With your help, we improved the accessibility and structure so that users can immediately find the right entry point. This has helped users to find what they are looking for more quickly and has significantly improved the overall user experience.
To what extent has the UX optimization influenced your next steps?
Anne Emmelmann: UX optimization has inspired us to focus the entire development process more strongly on the end user. We have refined our testing methods and now rely much more heavily on regular user feedback.
What other UX topics do you want to tackle in the future?
Anne Emmelmann: In the future, we want to focus more on mobile optimization and accessibility to ensure that our user experience remains equally excellent on different devices and for all user groups.

What are the advantages for start-ups of working with an experienced company from the UX sector?
Anne Emmelmann: It is valuable for start-ups to work with an experienced UX partner, as they help to question assumptions from a neutral expert perspective and focus on the user. This ensures that the product really meets the needs of the target group and that something is not built that is not needed or understood in the end. Another advantage is the iterative way of working. Instead of immediately striving for perfection, this method allows the product to be continuously tested and improved. With Expert:innen at our side, we can respond specifically to user feedback and thus optimize the product step by step.
What are the benefits of the collaboration with regard to your competitors?
Anne Emmelmann: By working together, we have established an authentic and coherent positioning for ourselves. We are not an HR platform, but a genuine development tool for teams. Unlike traditional providers, we don’t just rely on data or tools, but combine clear structures with in-depth reflection. Especially at a time when teams are under pressure, it is clear how crucial suitability for everyday use, user-centricity and genuine development are.
The trust in the process and the continuous customer feedback show us that we are creating real added value. By working closely with our customers, we now know exactly where even the top dogs are reaching their limits and can offer targeted solutions that directly address these challenges. This enables us to achieve increased customer satisfaction and loyalty in areas where other providers are reaching their limits.
