Anniversary boosts UID to record figures in 2008

The 10 year anniversary and a new record result – in 2008, User Interface Design GmbH had lots of reasons to celebrate. Offering the innovative combination of usability, software and design, UID generated a turnover of 5.6 million euros, an increase of 24 percent - which is the best result since UID was founded. The outlook for the future is optimistic: In spite of the economic crisis, UID expects a positive development for 2009 as well.

With the record result of 5.6 million euros and an increase in turnover of 24 percent, UID continued its positive company performance of the past years in 2008. The highest growth was attained on the German market. "The increase in turnover proves that our company has become a dynamic and energetic enterprise after 10 years and more than 1000 projects with 250 customers", says the managing director Dr. Claus Görner. The growth is also reflected in the 18 percent increase in the number of employees – contrary to the current trend. At the four locations in Ludwigsburg, Dortmund, Mannheim and Munich, 65 computer scientists, psychologists, designers and engineers are employed as specialists for the user experience of interactive products.

UID recipe for success convinces customers

Longtime experience in the fields of usability, software and design, innovative topics, employees with versatile qualifications, renowned customers, a network with international partners and a strong presence on numerous events and trade fairs – numerous market leaders in the industries of Consumer, Enterprise, Medical, Industry and Web relied on this recipe for success in 2008 as well and decided to cooperate with UID. With Jura, Samsung and seca, UID gained renowned new customers both at home and abroad.

UID faces the market with innovations

Even in difficult times, it is essential to consistently develop ideas to become innovations. Many renowned companies rely on UID for this purpose: No matter if it is services such as User Driven Innovation and Medical Safety Design, innovation projects on "Ambient Assisted Living" or as a Microsoft Surface Partner – UID offers its customers path-breaking solutions in human-machine interaction. The innovative and user-friendly design of user interfaces allows UID customers to considerably distinguish themselves from their competitors.

UID acts around the world

In order to provide user experience services worldwide, UID co-founded the International Usability Partners (IUP). From North America to the Far East – the network of independent usability companies also continued to grow in 2008. The network, which has grown to ten partners meanwhile, works for companies such as Expedia, Microsoft or Samsung in more than 30 countries. By conducting user research surveys in South Africa and Australia in 2008, the IUP has now conquered all continents.

UID provides User Experience

In 23 interesting conference lectures and as an exhibitor on four fairs, UID made user-friendly designed interfaces tangible in 2008 as well. On the World Usability Day 2008, UID enthused a large public for usability and the user-centered design process. Focusing on the expert public, UID presented itself on the Microsoft fair XTOPIA and the USEWARE conference. Exciting projects around user experience were introduced on the CeBIT.

UID celebrates its story of success

The successful year of 2008 was characterized by the ten year anniversary: Kick- off was in February with the grand opening of the new headquarter in Ludwigsburg. On two theme nights, guests were invited to celebrate with UID in the Mannheim and Munich office. In October, UID opened an office at Dortmund. The record year was topped off with a grand finale at Ludwigsburg in November, where 250 guests celebrated with UID. "UID looks back on many successes and events in 2008. And the record results allow to look ahead with optimism", sums up Franz Koller, managing director of UID.
