The CircleSegmentView
A User Centered, Meta-data Driven Approach for Visual Query and Filtering

Web search engines and other information retrieval systems help Internet users to search for specific contents. As the information-seeking process is related to the individual knowledge and interests of the users, it has become one of the biggest challenges of the World Wide Web and is therefore covered in various research fields such as Usability Engineering, Information Visualization and Information Retrieval. In his dissertation, Dr. Peter Klein, Usability Engineer and Vice Manager of the UID office at Mannheim, analyzes the visualization of "Circle Segment View". The purpose of this visualization is to describe the user-centered development process of a search engine as a dynamic query interface within the search system VisMeB (Visual Meta-data Browser).
