UID and SOS Kinderdörfer worldwide present appealing relaunch
The childcare organization SOS-Kinderdörfer worldwide for children in need presents itself on the website www.sos-kinderdoerfer.de in a new internet appearance. The objective of the relaunch that has been supported by User Interface Design GmbH (UID) was to consistently adjust the website to the needs of the users and to combine easy navigation with attractive design.
The new internet appearance of SOS-Kinderdörfer worldwide is emotionally appealing, aesthetically designed, giving a respectable impression at the same time. The close collaboration between SOS Kinderdörfer weltweit and User Interface Design GmbH (UID) ensured this balanced mix to be successful.
The road to Usability, Design and Implementation
First, a usability test determined the requirements of the users. The UID usability engineers interviewed the test respondents on their motivation to become involved as a sponsor. Another focus was the question of the optimal balance between emotional address and objective information. The questionnaire AttrakDiff™, an evaluation method developed by UID, showed whether the website is enjoyable to use.
Based on the test results, the team of SOS-Kinderdörfer worldwide designed the information architecture of the website together with the UID usability engineers. In total, three design drafts resulted from a joint look-and-feel workshop. Subsequently, the UID software engineers implemented the UID concept and the design.
The result is simple and beautiful
The new website now presents a logical navigation concept, reflecting the most frequent use scenarios and focusing on the fields "Become a sponsor" "Donate and Help" as well as "Information". Key colors make it easier to navigate and result in a logical color scheme. "The result shows consistent orientation towards the expectations of our website visitors. The creativity, the high sensitivity of UID for the brand and the close project collaboration enabled this result", says Sebastian Spaleck, Project Manager Internet at SOS-Kinderdörfer worldwide. Andreas Selter, Manager Web Solutions at UID, summarizes the project as follows: "It is a big challenge to created confidence on the Internet. SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit now proves that a charity website can be informative and attractive at the same time." The success of the project continues on the European level: The UID team also supported the relaunch of SOS-Kinderdorf Austria SOS-Kinderdorf Austria (http://www.sos-kinderdorf.at). Other countries have also made requests.
The website is supposed to attract sponsors for the work of SOS-Kinderdörfer worldwide. In addition, it is also an important communication and information platform for the organization. On average, 37,000 people visit the website per month.
