All good things come in threes: UID celebrates theme night "International User Research" in Munich

After Ludwigsburg and Mannheim, the employees and customers of the Munich office also celebrated the 10th anniversary of UID. During the theme night "International User Research", the guests were taken on an informative and culinary trip around the world.

The entertaining theme night took place against the background of internationality. Dr. Claus Görner, managing director of UID, and Andreas Beu, head of the Munich office, welcomed the customers, partners, and employees of UID starting with a champagne reception as international music played. While the small guests had a good romp in the playroom, the adults enjoyed the evening exchanging information and discussing with each other.

A varied trip through Europe

The kick-off was given by Prof. Dr. Christoph Häberle from the Stuttgart Media University, who took the audience on an entertaining trip through Europe. The professor for packaging design travelled around seven countries in three years, examining the color conceptions of people in 24 regions. By observing everyday life, he found out that the color conceptions and preferences extremely differ regionally. Giving many vivid examples from Spain, Ireland, Finland, Norway, Hungary and Greece, he introduced the audience to the different color preferences of the Europeans.

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do"

With this title, Jakob Biesterfeldt, Manager User Research at UID, continued the round-the-world-trip. Successfully designing international products does not only require competences in methodologies. The culture and country-specific requirements of interactive products that exist must be understood. Biesterfeldt made this clear by means of numerous examples from practice, which turned the lecture to an adventure for both experts and laymen.

Bavarian metropolis as an international center of attraction

With culinary delicacies from Italy, Japan, Mexico and South Africa as well as with a glass of anniversary wine, the guests finished off the successful evening. Andreas Beu, Head of the Munich office, was also very pleased: "Founded as a Swabian company, we were able to quickly gain a foothold in the Bavarian metropolis. In the meantime, we support lots of customers in Bavaria, but also in Austria. The Munich office has especially gained importance for international projects. Customers from Europe, overseas and South-East Asia know Munich and love to come to the Bavarian capital."

Let's continue celebrating with UID: On September 25, 2008, the Dortmund office will be officially opened. The final celebration of the anniversary year will be held on November 21, 2008, with a big party with customers, partners, and employees.
