International User Research: Successful work across borders

International user research studies became a part of the UID business a long time ago. How to cope with organizational challenges was presented by UID employee Jakob Biesterfeldt on the UPA International Conference in Baltimore, USA.

Jakob Biesterfeldt, Manager User Research, represented UID from 16 to 20 June 2008 on the internationalen UPA conference (Usability Professionals' Association) in Baltimore, USA, lecturing about "Managing International Research Vendors". The participants of the conference discussed the pitfalls of global collaboration of user research companies. The 90-minute lecture comprised "Why do we work with local companies?" "How do we find and choose a suitable company abroad?" and "How do we work together efficiently to provide our customers with the best possible benefit?".

The market for usability services is growing fast

Besides many interesting lectures, the conference provided the opportunity to talk to colleagues and customers, exchange news from scientific research, and discuss innovative methods and new markets. The bottomline for the 800 participants was: The market for usability services is growing fast, new methods and tools continue to be developed and we are looking forward to seeing more and more optimally usable products in all areas in future.
