UID is the service company of the year 2010

User Interface Design GmbH (UID) is the service company of the year 2010 of Baden-Württemberg in the category of service innovation. The Minister of Economics Ernst Pfister awarded the prize on July 6, 2010, within the Service Forum at the Haus der Wirtschaft (house of economy) at Stuttgart. 126 companies and cooperations took part in this competition.

At 6:14 pm, the long wait came to an end: UID was asked onto stage to receive the "Service Oscar". Claus Görner, Managing Director of UID, could finally relax. With a smile on his lips, he explained how it came about: "Some weeks after submitting our concept, we received a letter of the Ministry of Economics: We were asked to present our company to a 20-member jury, being one of the top 3 in our category. The presentation went well. We did not know anything until tonight. Now, we are more than happy of course."
UID wins the prize in the category of "service innovation", receiving a prize money of 5,000 Euro. In total, 126 participants submitted their ideas, 76 thereof in the category of service innovation. The Ministry of Economics awarded the first prize of this category twice. The ambulant care service PIUS from Reutlingen was awarded as well.

"The interface specialists are a good example of customer-oriented medium-sized companies that make the economic structure of Baden-Württemberg so strong", says Prof. Klaus Hekking, CEO of SRH Holding, in his laudatory speech. UID supports customers from the first product idea to its implementation, relying on user-centered design and developing interactive products that are aesthetic and user-friendly. It is both users and manufacturers who benefit from this: Products that are easy to use facilitate life and increase customer loyalty at the same time.

The in-house innovation process to promote employees' ideas and to develop new services was also decisive for the award, as it completes a portfolio that exactly meets the market needs. Also crucial: In its presentation to the jury, UID managed to emphasize its special corporate culture. The work of more than 65 experts is characterized by a vision, a mission statement, and defined values.

"The prize encourages us to further enhance our leading position internationally as well", says Franz Koller, Managing Director of UID. Baden-Württemberg as a core region for usability is an ideal location to achieve this goal. "We will also ensure in future that humans master technology - and not vice versa."

UID offers "award-winning" services: In 2006, UID received three iF communication design awards, in 2009, UID won the international Microsoft competition "Touch First Developer Challenge". With the prize for the "service company of the year", UID is continuing its series of awards. The prize is awarded every other year by the Ministry of Economics – for the sixth time in 2010, highlighting the strength and the wide range of the best service companies of Baden-Württemberg and emphasizing their importance for innovation, growth, and employment.
